In a bid to restore public trust in the state apparatus, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is scheduled to address the nation for the second time in one week.
Last Sunday, Museveni made a four-hour speech at State House explaining how government institutions have performed in the last 30 years since NRA/M took power in 1986.
He also expounded on what his administration intends to do to particularly generate more jobs for the youth, increase power generation, combat insecurity that has lately ripped the nation apart, stabilize the economy among others.
His address followed a gruesome murder of senior police officer Muhammad Kirumira who has gunned down a night before as he returned home in Bulenga, Wakiso district.
His killers who eyewitnesses say were wearing masks and riding motorcycles are still at large.
The assassination of Kirumira further drew ire, ignited debate and fuelled fear among the members of the public who feel the government has completely failed to deal with criminality once and forever.
Kirumira becomes the third prominent Ugandan to be assassinated this year following tens of other gruesome murders that have shocked Ugandans in the recent past.
Whereas the populace expected Museveni to fully address the issue of Kirumira on Sunday, he briefly mentioned the fallen police officer n his speech.
According to State House, Museveni will expound on this assassination on Saturday at 7:30pm.
It remains unknown what the President intends to address regarding this murder.
But officials say, Museveni will make important statement on how far with the investigations.
On Wednesday, media reports suggested that security authorities had arrested Kirumira’s killers, however, police was yet to confirm this development.
Kifeesi Resumes Operation
Meanwhile, a criminal cartel codenamed Kifeesi has resumed hostilities against the public and security officials in the capital Kampala.
Three months ago, this group that had terrorised residents of Kampala suburbs and the neighbouring towns had ceased fire, prompting theories from the public suggesting that its architecture, a former police chief Gen Kale Kayihura had been incarcerated.
Since Kayihura was arrested and detained in a military facility in Kampala, cases of criminality were on the wane.
But two weeks after his release, Kirumira was shot dead which aroused emotions that Kayihura was behind the execution.
Kirumira had been a known critic of Kayihura who publically called for his arrest and prosecution, alleging that the former IGP was a mastermind of the criminal groups that had been formed across the country.
Case of criminality have since been reported in some of parts of Kampala including Naguru, Nakivubo, Mengo and downtown.
The above mentioned places had been areas of operation for this cartel.
Social media enthusiasts have since taken to Facebook and Twitter to alert the public of any possible attack by these criminals.
