Parliament’s Chris Obore Gets Standing Ovation Over Impressive Thesis

Chris Obore (L) with other participants during the conference in Barcelona.

CHRIS OBORE is the director of communications and public affairs at parliament. He has not only excelled at his roles for parliament, but also become an A’Class academician.

Chris is being praised for his ‘spot-on’ masters thesis on ‘NEMA board of directors’ practices on wetland protection in Uganda; a case of Kinawataka wetland’

The thesis was identified as best in the school of civil service and public administration at the Uganda management institute last year

Obore got a standing ovation in Barcelona last wednesday when he presented the same thesis at the 8th RSEP International Conference on review of social issues and economic studies.

In attendance to cheer on Obore were the UMI Executive Director Dr. James Nkata, flanked by his supervisors Professor Gerald Karyeija and Maria Barifaijo.

Chris has just completed a masters degree in public policy and governance. His lecturers have asked him to consider putting in some lecturing hours at the Nakawa based institute.

“Chris was impressive in class. Giving well researched views and knowledgeable ideas made our studying easier. I think he now belongs to the academia. His grasp of public policy and governance issues would be good for academic institutes and students” said Anne, a former classmate

Obore’s thesis on wetland protection comes at a time when the national environment management authority is deeply engrossed in getting encroachers off Uganda’s decreasing wetlands which have been submerged by human settlement and other activities posing a huge danger to the countries natural resources sustenance.
