Kassiano Wadri has Wednesday taken oath in Parliament as Arua Municipality Legislator.
He was declared winner of the hotly contested race two weeks ago while in Gulu Prison on charges of treason. He Wadri polled 6,528 votes, beating NRM’s Nusura Tiperu who came second (4,763 votes) followed by Independent candidate Robert Ejiku in the August 15 ballot. Forum for Democratic Change party’s Bruce Musema came fourth with 1,372 votes.
Wadri and several other MPs were arrested for fuelling violence which left one person dead and many injured.
Kassiano an independent candidate replaces Col Ibrahim Abiriga who was shot dead by yet to be identified assailants two months ago.
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Jacob Oulanya welcomed Kassiano who once served as Terego West County lawmaker before he was defeated in 2016 elections.
While he is on bail, Kassiano was burned from stepping in constituency for 3 months.
