It is euphoria in Gulu and across the country. Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine) and his co-accused have been granted bail by Gulu Court.
The MP who is facing treason charges was released by the Court Martial in Makindye last Thursday before being re-arrested to face civil court.
Hordes of Bobi’s supporters thronged Gulu Court this morning and some were worried the MP who has been reduced to walking on crutches was too weak to contain prison life.
Other MPs that have together with Bobi Wine been granted bail included newly elected Kasiano Wadri who has been restricted from visiting his constituency for three months pending investigations, Gerald Karuhanga, and former Makindye East MP Michael Mabikke.
Bobi Wine and his co-accused were arrested on the eve of the Arua Municipality By-Elections when pre-election violence rocked the Municipality on the last day of campaigns. President Museveni who was in Arua to canvass support for NRM’s Nusura Tiperu had one of his escort cars stoned, while Bobi Wine’s driver was short dead.
