Jinja town in Eastern Uganda is on fire after deadly riots broke following the re-arrest of Uganda’s pop-politician Bobi Wine-real name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

On Thursday the Court Martial in Gulu dropped charges against Bobi Wine who was initially remanded to Makindye barracks for illegally possessing a gun.

After the military court set Bobi Wine free, he was re-arrested out and fresh chages slapped against him in the civil court.

He has since been remanded to Gulu prison until August 30.

He is accused of attacking President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s motorcade which tantamounts to treason.

The fresh charges angered youth in Eastern Uganda who began lighting bonfires, looting, chanting ‘people power’ slogans.

Bobi Wine now joins fellow MPs: Paul Mwiru of Jinja East, Gerald Karuhanga of Ntungamo Municipality and the Arua Municipality MP elect Kassiano Wadri among others.
