UPDF General Elly Tumwine has reassured the nation that government has straightened generation and provision of intelligence to pre-empt criminality that has in the recent past brought the security apparatus to its knees.
Security Minister is optimistic the situation will now improve with this new strategy.
He described this plan as “forecast priorities” for the year 2018/19, addinh tgaf Gen Tumwiine said capacity building for Internal Security Organisation (ISO) is high on agenda.
“This involves acquisition of communication equipment; transport equipment; training and re-skilling; maintenance of foundation security; security mobilisation, among others,” the Minister told journalists on Monday as during his address on the progress made and challenges faced in implementing the 2016 NRM manifesto.
The ministry will build dormitories for the Institute of Security and Intelligence Studies (ISIS) for improved skill and knowledge on security and Intelligence concerns.
He further highlighted that government will establish the Security Information Monitoring Centre in accordance with Section 3 of the Regulation of Interception of Communications Act, 2010, build ISO head offices and Field Stations to facilitate internal security.
