Today morning Jinja Court remanded Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere to Luzira maximum prison until December 28. Court rejected requests by Omusinga’s lawyer Caleb Alaka to grant him bail.
One of the grounds for bail application was that the jailed King is ill. Indeed, according to Mumbere’s leaked medical results obtained by TrumpetNews show that he was diagnosed with terrible diarrhoea and general body weakness on 8th December at Jinja referral hospital.
The Doctor’s diagnosis shows over 10 blood samples were carried out on Omusinga and found out that his white and red blood cell count are very low and therefore exposing body to contracting diseases.
Nevertheless, King Mumbere appeared in Court for the mention of his murder case in which prosecution avers he killed Godfrey Kasimba, police constable in March in Kasese.
He was arrested on 27th last month at his Buhikira Royal Palace in Kasese town by Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) in a joint operation with police and airlifted to Nalufenya prison in Jinja following deadly clashes between security agencies and Rwenzururu royal guards where dozens lost lives and others incarcerated.
Meanwhile, the court has granted Mumbere access to his lawyer, a small fridge, next of kin visits, personal cook, medical doctor and time to talk to his lawyer. A heap of 11 new charges have slapped on the King by Court which some include terrorism, murder, and attempted murder among others in relation to Rwennzori skirmishes that have since rocked the region.
