Bebe Cool: I Spend shs20m Weekly on Myself, Family; Helping the Needy

Bebe Cool

Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool has revealed his expenditure as a musician, father and concerned citizens who many run to in times of need.

While giving a perspective on the current trend of music in the industry, as a pioneer who has since inspired a couple of artistes, the self styled Big Size expressed his gratitude to fellow singers for having woken up from slumber.

In the past the Gagamel President had been criticised for injecting quite a lot of cash in shooting music videos and failing to erect a house for he has subjected his family into a rented home in Ntinda, a Kampala suburb.

Whereas his fellow musicians had built plush residences, Bebe Cool wasn’t deterred by the verbal missiles unleashed against him labeling him a ‘failure.’

On Tuesday, Bebe Cool told NBSTV presenter Kats that, “I am happy that what I did 15 years ago, these musicians are now doing it.”

Last year, Ugandan singers regrouped and expressed disappointment to music fans for they felt their music wasn’t appreciated but rather the crowds were obsessed with ‘imported’ content from Nigeria.

Bebe Cool, however, wasn’t part of the seemingly disgruntled ilk of artistes but rather challenged them that it was time they realise what he had been trying to fight for by investing a lot in the industry to compete with international artistes.

Indeed he never bowed to pressure like most of musicians.

“The problem with our musicians they think they can reap out of music presently. They want to invest less to reap big. Impossible,” said Bebe Cool.

With the money he has made and whereas many look up to him as successful, Bebe Cool said he is still poor but expects to recoup investment in many years to come.

It is at that point that he revealed his weekly expenditure.

He said to manage Showbiz world an artiste must first watch his health, looks and diet.

Besides showbiz Bebe Cool said he takes care of a family of nine members including six of his children who need to go to good schools and live a good life.

He further said that most of the time he is approached by needy neighbours who need help.

Not so long ago, a deprived woman stormed his residence with a cancer stricken child seeking medical treatment.

Musically he promised to drop new hits a month’s time after releasing a collabo- I do- with Rwandan female singers Charly and Nina.
