Police Boss Kasima: Many Officers Have No Training

Big StoryPolice Director of Traffic and Road Safety AIGP Steve Kasima has attributed the increased criminality, discipline in the police service to poor or lack of training within ranks.

Under the watch of former IGP Gen Kale Kayihura, a number of cops close to him had become a public menace popular for corruption, criminality and brutality against innocent civilians.

Kasima speaking to TrumpetNews on claims that the growing misconduct within the institution as a result of frustrations fanned by ‘old low ranked disgruntled officers’, against young high-ranking officials, Kasima said the cause majorly hinges on professionalism.

“The problems of police are beyond what we are talking to about,” he said; adding that police is overwhelmed in number and therefore to curb this challenge the officers didn’t accomplish training courses and are passed out.

While conducting investigations on the cause of increased criminality, we found out that disgruntled old men in uniform collaborate with outsiders to wreck havoc in the force.

He recalls that his contemporaries in the force can’t exceed 100 in number in the whole organ, “but you find thousands and thousands on training. First the numbers are big, that means that even trainers will be overwhelmed and thus poor quality,” he said.

Police has lately become a subject of public mockery with its senior officer battling charges in the army court.

One of the senior police officers, ASP Muhammad Kirumira publicly resigned suggesting that the top management needs to be disbanded because it a leading cartel of criminals.

He would later be prosecuted in police court.

On Sunday, the nation was thrown into shock when the President announced that he had fired IGP Kayihura.
