A total number of thirteen people- six army officers and seven civilians have been appointed as the new board members of National Enterprising Corporation (NEC), the commercial arm of UPDF.
The board, chaired by Lt Gen Joram Mugume was unveiled Tuesday at the NEC head offices in Bugolobi, tasked to give strategic guidance and also draft police to the Managing Director (MD) Maj Gen James Mugira.
Daniel Mukombozi however, remains the serving secretary and Mugira’s deputy.
NEC was established in 1989 by an Act of the Parliament of Uganda. Its investments and activities include agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, services, and defense industry projects and companies.
It also oversees Luwero industries, which manufacture bullets, repair riffles and armoured vehicles and manufacture spare parts for military equipment.
Further the board is to guide Mugira focus on turning around NEC as per establishment act.
