There was drama on Sunday when mourners heckled, hurled insults and pelted stones at Kagoma County MP Moses Walyomu Muwanika as he stood to speak at a burial ceremony of Florence Kambudwe.

The infuriated crowd accused Walyomu of betrayal having voted yes to endorse scrapping of age cap (75 year).

The new law now enables Ugandans aged 200 years to stand for President.

Residents of Kadiba Ward in Buwenge Town Council, Kagoma in Jinja District expressed their anger by blocking the MP’s condolence speech.

As he stood to address the gathering, the crowds started heckling him, accusing of voting “yes” reported a local website.

“When he insisted on continuing the speech, some mourners surged towards him while others started throwing stones at him,” the media reports further indicate.

Walyomu was rescued by a few of his sympathizer who whisked him away as he sought refuge in his office.

317 lawmakers on 20th December 2017 voted in favour to amend article 102 (b) of the constitution to remove presidential age limit.

The move is now perceived as a plan to keep President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in power forever.
