Rukungiri Magistrates Court has dropped murder charges against opposition leader Col Kizza Besigye, FDC chief mobiliser Ingrid Turinawe and party presidential candidate Patrick Oboi Amuriat.

The trio was instead charged with Incitement to violence, malicious damage of property (police car), disobedience of statutory duty on Wednesday morning

Besigye and his co-accused pleaded not guilty.

Court granted Besigye, Ingrid and Amuriat a non cash bail.

Whereas police had earlier detained Besigye accusing him of murder of Edson Nasasira a youth that was killed in Rukungiri last week, a postmortem report released yesterday indicated that he was shot in head.
