Uganda police has launched a hunt for suspects who attacked a police post in Kampala and hacked an officer before robbing a gun loaded with rounds of ammunition.
The incident happened last night at 0100hrs at Mponye police post which is in lukuli Sub County a Kampala suburb.
Luke Owoyesigire the deputy Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson says while officers were on a night patrol outside the post, they received a call from one PC66862 Dickens Alado that the post had come under attack.
On reaching the post, they found PPC 67298 Vincent Kasozi Vincent bleeding profusely in the neck and his hands.
“About 5men appeared at the station in the middle of the night and Kasozi who was deployed as the SD constable that night tried to attend to them” C/ASP Owoyesigire said.
Owoyesigire added that “When Kasozi saw one of the men pull out a panga, he ran fast for his gun which was SMG UGPOL48009097 with 30 rounds and the man with a panga hacked his fingers off and also cut him around the neck”.
Kasozi also narrated that he made an alarm which attracted his friends who rushed to help him but found the attackers had already disappeared in the night.
