New Vision has fired its head of Distribution and circulation manager Joseph Lwanga, Circulation manager incharge of commercial printing Perez Kawumi, Godfrey Isabirye who is the regional sales supervisor and all these are close links to Robert Kabushenga.
These have been fired after it was identified that some staff members had involved themselves in a very big corruption scandal.
Vision is one of the biggest media houses in Uganda with circulation of papers of about 34,000 copies per day however the circulation had reduced to about 26,000 copies a day and this prompted an immediate internal investigation from the audit section.
The investigations revealed that these three managers were selling papers to their own agents and in the end they would share the money themselves. On average, the media house was losing 8000 copies per day worth 8 Million Uganda shillings.
It is not clear when the three managers started the practice but investigations show that they might have started the evil practice the day when the pope arrived in Uganda.
In total, the media house has lost 11 Billion 520 Million Shillings to Kabushenga’s strong henchmen. We are told that Vision group treated these men with a soft hand when it asked them to resign yet they were supposed to be arrested.
Besides Newspaper theft, we are also told that these three men had other illegal dealings within the group. A source has revealed that Mr. Lwanga’s cars (Head of Circulation) were the ones distributing company newspapers.
We are also told that Lwanga manipulated the procurement department and had its former head Sam Aderubo replaced by Robin who is another Kabushenga’s henchman.
We are told that Robin was an overtime Kabushnga’s personal assistant and he was brought on board to make sure that all Kabushenga’s friends get procurement contracts.
Similar sources have also told us that there are very many leakages in other vision group departments especially Commercial Printing, Sales and marketing and procurement.
Staff has called an internal audit to help them reveal the huge rot in the media house especially the recruitment department which has put Kabushenga’s friends and relatives in prime positions.
We are told that his brother by names of Frank Kabushenga is the administration manager, brother’s wife is the senior human resource manager. His brother who in the administration manager came to Vision group as an office messenger.
Several complaints have also been raised about the CEO, Robert Kabushenga whom they blame of absenteeism. They say that he no longer comes to office. He is reported to spending most of his time at his Rugyeyo Farm.
Last week the Vision group Human resource issued a document demanding all staff members to declare their interests. (Declaration of conflict form of employees).
On this form, they have to declare where they have any interest in any company trading or dealing with New vision. There is a protest among the staff members who feel that the Human Resource Manager is covering up Kabushenga and his Henchmen.
