President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has congratulated Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan upon her re-election as President of the United Republic of Tanzania and leader of the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Party.
In a message posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, President Museveni said President Samia’s victory is a reflection of the confidence the people of Tanzania have in her leadership and vision.
“I congratulate Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Party on her re-election as President of Tanzania. This victory reflects the confidence that the people of Tanzania have in her leadership and vision,” Museveni stated.
He reaffirmed Uganda’s strong bilateral relations with Tanzania, emphasizing that the two nations share historic bonds of friendship and cooperation that continue to shape regional stability and development.
“Uganda and Tanzania share historic bonds of friendship and cooperation. I look forward to working with President Samia to further strengthen our partnership in trade, infrastructure, and regional integration for the peace and prosperity of our peoples,” Museveni added.
President Museveni’s message comes as Tanzania prepares to usher in a new term under President Samia’s leadership, following her party’s landslide victory.
The two countries have in recent years deepened collaboration on major projects, including the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP), road infrastructure, energy, and trade facilitation within the East African Community (EAC).
Observers note that Museveni and Samia have maintained a warm working relationship since she assumed office in 2021, marked by frequent consultations on cross-border development projects and regional peace initiatives.
