The National Vice Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Mr. Michael Nuwagira Kaguta, popularly known as Toyota, has issued a new directive to all PLU coordinators across the country, ordering them to reactivate grassroots mobilization structures ahead of the 2026 general elections.
In a communiqué released on Monday, Toyota thanked the coordinators for their “great work and spirit of patriotism” and instructed them to work closely with the National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilization teams in their respective regions to consolidate support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the party’s presidential flag bearer.
“You are hereby instructed to reactivate our grassroots structures and, most importantly, to work closely with the NRM mobilization teams in your respective assigned areas,” Toyota wrote. “This is purposed to consolidate the NRM support for our presidential flag bearer and other NRM flag bearers. Together, we shall deliver the NRM a resounding victory come January 15th, 2026.”
Among those newly appointed under PLU’s “Tuko Pamoja” mobilization structure is Counsel Kiryowa, a former NRM flag bearer aspirant for Busiro East, who previously petitioned the party over alleged election irregularities.
However, in what insiders describe as a demonstration of loyalty and maturity, Kiryowa chose not to run as an independent, opting instead to uphold the party’s unity.

Recognizing his vibrancy and proven mobilization skills, Toyota has since appointed Kiryowa as PLU Coordinator for Wakiso District, a strategic political base expected to play a significant role in the 2026 campaigns.
PLU sources say the appointment underscores Toyota’s emphasis on “reconciliation and inclusion” as key principles in the League’s partnership with NRM, signaling an effort to rally all loyalists and former aspirants under a unified campaign front.
