Makindye Magistrates Court has remanded Ugandan singer Patrick Mulwana, popularly known as Alien Skin, to Luzira Prison after being charged with robbery.
The controversial artist appeared before Grade One Magistrate Esther Adikini on Wednesday afternoon. The prosecution, led by Henry Twinomujuni, alleged that on September 28, 2024, Alien Skin robbed Salim Mubiru of an iPhone 15 Pro worth UGX 3.5 million, UGX 480,000 in cash, and a wallet. The incident is reported to have taken place under unclear circumstances.
When asked to respond to the charges, Alien Skin vehemently denied any involvement in the alleged robbery. Despite his denial, the state prosecutor informed the court that investigations into the matter were complete, paving the way for a trial.
The court ordered Alien Skin to be remanded to Luzira Prison until December 9, 2024, when he is expected to return for further proceedings.
This legal drama adds to the singer’s recent troubles with law enforcement. Prior to the robbery charge, Alien Skin had been arrested in connection with an assault incident at Nsambya Hospital. It is alleged that a group of individuals linked to the singer attacked hospital staff, sparking public outrage.
The popular but controversial artist, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and defiant persona, has faced a series of legal and social challenges in recent months. His fans, however, have expressed mixed reactions to his latest legal predicament, with some calling for due process while others allege he is being targeted unfairly.
As the case unfolds, all eyes are on the court to see how it handles the allegations against one of Uganda’s most talked-about celebrities. For now, the singer remains behind bars in Luzira Prison.
