Police have confirmed that their own officer Corporal Francis Onekalit number 48327 died in a car accident on Monday evening.
Another occupant, Sam Murura number 55971 escaped death with both broken limbs and grave injuries and he is currently admitted at Hoima referral hospital.
Around 4:00pm, police say they received news that a Toyota premio registration number UAW 750B lost control due to over speeding and knocked an electric pole along the road.
The fatal accident happened at Kyesiiga East Cell Bujumbura Division Hoima Municipality, and the two police officers of K9 who were travelling from tracking in Kyarushesha Police Post in Kyangwali sub county- Vide HMA SD 07/05/06/1.
The authorities visited the scene and took the body for postmotem and investigations have been kicked off under traffic vide- traffic vide TAR 46/2017 HMA CPS.
