Janet Museveni, Uganda’s First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, has lauded Sudhir Ruparelia, Chairman of Ruparelia Group of Companies, for his commendable efficiency in the timely preparation of the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala.
The Convention Centre is presently hosting the global Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit, running from the 15th to the 20th of this month.
Furthermore, the G77+China summit is slated to unfold at the same venue from January 21 to 23, drawing the participation of leaders and representatives from 135 countries worldwide.
The multimillion-dollar Convention Centre, a collaborative effort between the Ruparelia Group and the Government of Uganda, was constructed within a remarkable one-year timeframe.
Commencing with the groundbreaking ceremony in January 2022, Sudhir Ruparelia successfully disproved initial doubts and completed the project on schedule.
In light of this accomplishment, the First Lady, Janet Museveni, expressed her appreciation for Sudhir’s efficiency and dedication in preparing the Convention Centre.
“I recently visited the Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo to inspect the facilities for the upcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and G77+China Heads of State and Government Summits.
I would like to express my appreciation to the Ruparelia Group for their commendable work in preparing the Convention Centre for these Summits. Their attention to detail and level of preparedness is truly praiseworthy.”
The facility’s role in hosting both the NAM and G77+China summits underscores its significance as a venue for high-profile international events.
While commending Sudhir and the Ruparelia Group for their efforts, the Minister of Education emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in facility management. Janet Museveni called for continuous checks on all amenities to ensure they remain in excellent working condition not only during the summits but also in the future.
She reiterated Uganda’s commitment to hosting successful international events, showcasing the nation’s best and ensuring a warm and hospitable experience for all guests.
“However, I want to emphasize the importance of maintaining these high standards. It is crucial to conduct continuous checks on all amenities, ensuring they remain in excellent working condition not only during the Summits but also in the future.
This visit reaffirmed our commitment to hosting successful international events, showcasing the best of what Uganda has to offer, and ensuring that every guest experiences the warmth and hospitality for which our nation is known.”
