Uganda Police has in custody a medical doctor who was invited to Henry Katanga’s home at Mbuya Hill on the morning of November 2, moments after Katanga had been shot dead following a domestic brawl he had with his wife Molly Katanga.
Investigators from Uganda Police and the investigating unit of the army- Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) have since learned that the doctor was reportedly invited to ‘manage’ the body of Katanga.
Whether he was the family doctor remains unclear.
Charles Otai, who is being held at Jinja Road Police Station together with the Shamba Boy (names withheld) have been in custody for a week now. They were first detained at Kiira Division Police in Wakiso district before they were transferred.
The two according to our highly placed source in security have been grilled in separate intervals and have since “provided very useful information which will help us to find out the truth on what exactly happened and who is responsible for Katanga’s shooting.”
Although the circumstances that led to shooting and killing of the prominent businessman who doubled as prince of Ankole at his home remain perplexing, detectives have so far interviewed key family members who were present at a time a loud bang was heard from Katanga’s house moments after picking an altercation with his wife Molly.
Molly remains bedridden in ICU at IHK hospital and is being guarded considering the sensitivity of the matter.

Her eldest daughter Tricia Katanga has since recorded a statement at Special Investigation Division (SID) at Kireka, a facility that is used by both the army and police.

The Shamba Boy who has been living with the family for seven years, according to New Vision told Police that he was ordered to clean up the blood that had spilled all over the house.
According to the government paper, the instruction came from Tricia Katanga who earlier had been called to save the situation.
If the Shamba’s boys account is true, then questions emerge on what could have been the motive.
Indeed she told Police that her parents’ picked a quarrel and she later heard a gunshot only to rush to the bedroom and found her mother unconscious and her father dead with a bullet wound in his head.

Her real father was Katanga’s elder brother, James Katanga who died in the 90s. Henry Katanga was asked to marry Molly who at the time she was pregnant with Tricia.
Doctor Otai on Friday was taken back to Mbuya at Katanga’s home to reconstruct the scene of crime.
No security official both in Police and the army has been willing to speak about the investigation when reached.
