Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court has granted bail to the four suspects implicated in the torture of Kamwenge Mayor, Godfrey Byamukama.
ASP Patrick Muramira, ASP Fred Tumuhairwe; Habib Roma (driver) and Ben Odeke, were charged with causing bodily harm on Friday by Chief Magistrate, Jameson Karemani.
They were remanded to Luzira prisons till today when they would apply for bail.
Court heard that the four cops while arresting Byamukama last month tortured him in police van before taking him to Nalufenya, a highly feared detention facility.
He is among the suspected killers of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi who was assassinated in March.
They subjected Byamukama him to harsh torture while beating him ith batons and iron bars on the knees and ankles.
The suspects’ lawyers, Banabas Kamya and Humphrey Tumwesigye, applied for bail Tuesday and got their clients released.
Court has ordered them to stay away from their place of work and their passports taken.
