Uganda Police bomb squad has successfully removed a bomb that has Sunday been found at Pastor Robert Kayanja’s Miracle Centre Cathedral in Rubaga a suburb of Kampala.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the news saying, “we have controlled the bomb and it didn’t explode. We have removed it.”
Police has been commended for acting swiftly to save lives.
The development comes after Police issued a terror alert on Saturday urging Ugandans to avoid crowded places.
Kayanja’s church is attended by hundreds of thousands of worshipers.
According to Police, a terrorist identified as Ibrahim Kintu, 28, was intercepted at the entrance of the mega church, he was immediately arrested and bomb experts detonated the explosive (controlled detonation).
Patrick Onyango said the terrorist confessed that he is among 4 sent out, warning that three more bombs are on the loose.
The terrorist has since agreed to cooperate with Police to help locate the other three suicide bombers.
