Ibanda loses Top law Professor Ntambirweki

RIP; Prof. Ntambirweki

Professor John Ntambirweki, 68, a popular educationalist, lawyer and Vice Chancellor of Uganda Pentecostal University is dead.

The legal scholar succumbed to multiple organ failure, according to family. He had been sick for some time being in and out of hospital.

In his years of service Ntambirweki who hails from Bisheshe, Ibanda district worked at a number of institutions in and outside East Africa including University of Nairobi, Makerere University and Pentecostal University in Fort Portal, Kabarole district.

A funeral service will be held at All Saints Church Nakasero on Thursday afternoon and a vigil, later, at his residence in Buziga.

He will be buried on Saturday at his native home in Ibanda in Western Uganda.

He had championed access to education of indigenous communities in Western Uganda, Uganda and in East Africa.

He had a wealth of experience as a Professor of Law, having taught at University of Nairobi, Pacific il the United States, Makerere University and Uganda Christian University as well as providing legal advice to Government agencies in many African countries and International organizations in several legal aspects.

Ntambirweki was a former Senior Lecturer of Makerere University and also served as Head of Department of Law, Uganda Christian University.

Prof Ntambirweki served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Advocates Coalition for Development and Environment (ACODE); one of the leading think tanks in Uganda.

He also was working as a consultant with International organizations like UNEP, UNDP, World Bank, FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, IUCN, UNECA, ACTS, GTZ, DANIDA, and IDRC.

The deceased was a Consultant at the law firm of Ntambirweki Kandeebe & Company Advocates, based in Kampala.

Other advocates at the firm include Barbara Ntambirweki, a daughter to John Ntambirweki, and a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Law at Uganda Pentecostal University.
