Details have emerged in relation to the demise of a Ugandan professional Juvinal Betambira Kacokooro whose lifeless body was found in his apartment in in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
It took the invention of his close friends and neighbors who broke into his apartment on Sunday afternoon after he had not been seen for close to two days.
This website, yesterday reported that Mr Kacokooro who hails from Ibanda district died under unclear circumstances in Tanzania.
A father and husband to Sheila Amaniyo, Kacokooro has been working in Tanzania for close to 2 decades as a chartered accountant and also a Managing Partner of BDO, a reputable audit firm.
He was responsible for Audit and Assurance services, quality assurance and risk management at the Tanzania office and had over 20 years’ experience in professional services.
Information obtained reveals that on Friday, Kacokooro felt unwell and he sent his askari to buy him soda and painkillers.
On Saturday, he again ordered for more soda.
However, he couldn’t pick his phones which compelled his friends to show concern on Sunday afternoon.
“On Saturday, we tried calling him but he wasn’t answering his phone and on Sunday, we sent someone to check on him at his place, that’s when we discovered that he had died,” said a close friend.
His body was picked by the Tanzanian Police on Sunday to carry out postmortem and establish the cause of his death.
The body will be repatriated to Uganda on Wednesday. Burial has been set for Saturday.
Who is Juvinal Kacokooro?
The late Juvinial Betambira was a Chartered Accountant, a member of the ACCA, BCOM MUK Class of 1997-2000.
He sat his O & A levels at St. Leo’s College Kyegobe. He began his career at KPMG as an accountant.

Juvinal has worked in Uganda, Rwanda, Bermuda, New York apart from Tanzania and has worked in senior positions in Ernst and Young, Deloitte and KPMG before joining BDO. While Juvinal’s deep knowledge in the attest and assurance work is sector agnostic, he has also developed special skills in the mining industry and has led the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative in Tanzania and Zambia over many years.
Juvinal is a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants of UK (FCCA). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting), Makerere University and is a Practicing Member of National Board of Auditors and Accountants of Tanzania (NBAA) and Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
