At the burial of Nadduli Jakana, a fracas ,stampede and fight erupted and one Majambere- an NRM supporter was beaten.
Watching the incident, folks putting on attire purported to be of a party colour of NUP were seen punching , throwing bottles and plastic chairs at the aforementioned victim.
This unfortunate incident is not new. On a every burial claimed to be having majority NUP supporters; they either chase or fight renown NRM supporters and even security personnel.
Suffice to say, NUP party management has never made any press release to disassociate from such savage behaviour of their alleged supporters.
Aptly to say, there is no where NRM supporters have beaten a NUP supporter . In African culture; during time of sorrows, individual differences are put aside and you condole with a bereaved Family. Thus, yesterday’s incident is unafrican . We Salute Majambere for having joined mourners to give final respect to the departed. It’s African culture.
On several occasions, NUP supporters have been seen provoking security personnel and even engaging them in fights but what’s paradoxical is that video clips of these NUP militias provoking security are cut out and public domain is washed with clips of security retaliating to “depict” excessive power by security. NUP party is becoming more paramilitary because of provoking security and determined to kill whoever is ideologically divergent from them.
We Salute Ugandan security ; without their alertness , NUP militias would even stage roadblocks to target Baganda NRM supporters ( as they did to Majambere) and non Baganda. Prove me out; their hatred is much on non- Baganda. Uganda is a heterogeneous Nation and Ugandans will always appreciate a political party that has nationalistic ingredients because Uganda belongs to all tribes . NUP party is parochial and Ugandans gravitate to associate with a party that has patriotism and pan Africanism premised on African federation. We implore Ugandan security to dismantle this NUP paramilitary parochial group with gusto it deserves. It’s parochial ideology can’t take Uganda anywhere especially in this “global village”.
Uganda’s Constitution is very clear on how to get state power through democratic means by elections every after five years. NUP’s modus operandi of being paramilitary to cause anarchy is unconstitutional and architects must face long arm of law.
