Museveni’s man Simeo Nsubuga will now Earn shs.35m monthly

Nsubuga championed the removal of age limit

Simeo Nsubuga who was recently appointed Commissioner of Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) will earn a monthly salary of shs 35 million, it has emerged.

Nsubuga a former Policeman made a name after he championed the removal of presidential age cap through amending the constitution when he served as Kasanda South MP in the 10th Parliament.

He however, lost an election in 2021 to an NRM candidate Michael Muhumuza.

Muhumuza trounced Nsubuga in the NRM primaries who bounced as an independent candidate but also lost.

Since then, his life changed because he was jobless.

But President Yoweri Museveni recently rewarded him with a nomination as a commissioner of UHRC.

This website has established that the appointment comes with the following benefits.

A monthly salary of shs 35 million without sitting allowance, a car, fuel, medical insurance and housing allowance of 4 million per month.

Following the appointment  Nsubuga’s name was forwarded to Parliament for vetting and he appeared on Monday.

After interface with the House Committee, Nsubuga told the media that his vast experience at the Uganda Police will enable him to serve in the new role.

“As required by article 51 (2), of the constitution of the republic of Uganda. I want to take this opportunity to thank His Excellency YK Museveni for the confidence and Trust he put in me and appointing me to this sensitive office,” he said.

“I also want to assure all Ugandans in General and the people of Kassanda South constituency in particular that i will be on the forefront in promoting, protecting and observing the rights of the people of Uganda as the constitution requires. I thank you all,” Nsubuga added.
