“How do you sell tickets at the expense of our children?” Speaker Anita Among charged while presiding over Tuesday plenary.
She added, “we are talking about morals of this country. We are talking about our children.”
Speaker Among was referring to the much anticipated Nyege Nyege, a week long event hosted at the banks of River Nile in Jinja. It was slated to take place on September 15 to 18.
For many who have attended the fete sex, alcohol, music and food headlines the event.
The festival is attended by locals and foreigners who fly in dollars which boost the economy.
However, there are allegations that event organizers secretly promote homosexual at the event.
“How do u promote tourism at the expense of our children? We are not going to allow that function to take place,” Among said throwing parliament into wild celebrations.
She reiterated, “how do you sell tickets at the expense of our children, we shall not promote gayism in Uganda.”
So far preparations have been ongoing as the public geared for peak days- September 15 to 18.

This is not the first time the event is frustrated, in 2018 the then Ethics Minister father Simon Lokodo attempted to stop it but he was beaten hands down.
