Gordon Bafaki, the former Kazo MP has perished in road accident on Northern Bypass in Kampala.
The fatal accident occurred in the wee hours of Wednesday as the former legislator returned from Kiruhura district where he was a committee member of Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s homecoming party.
According to police report, Bafaki was driving a Toyota Land Cruiser TX registration number UBD 965E which crashed with a trailer registration number KBZ539Z/ZC8776.
The driver of the trailer is being held at Kiwatule Police Station while Bafaki’s body was taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem.
Police has kicked off investigations into what could have caused the accident.
Bafaki replaced Eng. John Nasasira as Kazo MP in the 2016 elections before he lost to Dan Kimosho in 2021.
However, he had kept in touch with the constituents as he made rigorous mobilization aiming at 2026.
On Tuesday, he appeared on local radio and rallied supporters of NRM to attend Muhoozi’s homecoming celebrations.
However, the Commander of Land Forces didn’t turn for the event, having been in Karamoja with the President attending a security meeting.
Muhoozi justified his absence saying he was concentrating on regional issues.
Bafaki, born on November 9, 1976 was a professional teacher with a bachelor’s degree in Education from Makerere University.
