A retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Asan Kasingye is yet to come to terms that he is now a civilian and wields less influence out of uniform.
Kasingye served Uganda Police for over 30 years.
Kasingye, very popular on social media handed over office last week following his contract expiry.
He is among 7 police directors that had been waiting for President Yoweri Museveni for extension but in vain.
Kasingye, fond of engaging his followers on Twitter, last night narrated his ordeal of sitting for 2 hours waiting to meet a bank manager.
The former Police Political Commissar, said he was treated like a pauper by a receptionist of ABSA bank, Ntinda Shopping Center branch.
“So a receptionist at Absa Uganda Ntinda shopping Mall complex made me to wait for 2hours to see the manager yesterday”?
He reminded the bank that since he is out of police service he may now appear uninfluential but he deserves respect as a bank customer.
“I may have appeared a “kapapura man” in an Arsenal T-shirt but still I am a customer my dear. You guys in civilian dress, is this what you go through on daily?,” he rumbled.
Kasingye said he was shocked to find a bank manager alone despite earlier calls by the receptionist to be patient as her boss was attending to other clients.
“When I finally decided to go to the manager against her advice to be patient, I found the manager alone. On my way out, I thanked her for her “help” and she chose to “forever remain remain silent”. BTW, I respect the bank & had convinced myself to be silent. It looks I was hurt!”
