Armed warriors Gunned down as SFC commandos Seal off Karamoja villages

Many armed warriors were gunned down in a covert operation

Tens of suspected Karimojong armed cattle rustlers were Friday night taken out of action by the highly trained elite unit of the UPDF- Special Forces Command (SFC).

This development follows a warning from the Commander of Land Forces (CLF) Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba after 3 geologists and two soldiers were killed in Karamoja by the rustlers.

The geologists, one of whom was an intern identified as Edna Musiime from Makerere University, were killed alongside their escorts on Monday afternoon as they were conducting mineral mapping in the area.

The other two victims were identified as Richard Kiggwwe, the lead geologist and his colleague, Charles Olweny.

Until to date, the soldiers have not been identified.

“My Karimojong brothers! We have begged you to stop the life of robbery and violence. We have begged you to stop attacking your neighbours but to no avail! You have refused all our appeals! Well, now we are coming and hell is coming with us!” Muhoozi warned on Tuesday.

This website has gathered that on Friday night SFC commandos landed stealthily in the Villages of Moroto where the geologists were murdered and executed tens of the armed warriors.

Some of the warriors taken out of action

SFC commandos parachuted directly into Nakabaat and Lokislei villages. It was tactical mission,” reports indicate.

The warriors didn’t see soldiers coming. By morning all villages were surrounded and most warriors put out of action,” reports further indicate.

The army has since deployed heavily in the area using 4 helicopter gunships, APC, Pembes and over 400 soldiers.

No SFC official was willing to comment when reached.

The army spokesperson Brig. Felix Kulayigye when contacted denied that it was not a covert operation, “we have been in Karamoja trying to disarm the warriors. Our operations are known,” he said before ending our call.
