The UPDF Commander of Land Forces (CLF), Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba is in Egypt at the invitation of President Fattah Al Sisi.
Gen Muhoozi’s office told this website that he is on official visit and will hold talks with President Fattah along with other senior military and government officials.
He used Uganda Airlines bombardier aircraft.
The development comes after Muhoozi had just returned from the Rwanda where he spent three days as he largely focused on holding bilateral talks with President Paul Kagame.
However, details of this Egyptian trip remain scanty.
While meeting Kagame twice, international media reported that Muhoozi sought to fix Uganda- Rwanda relations.
Sour relations between Uganda and Rwanda had led to a three-year border closure by Kigali, which was opened after Muhoozi’s first meeting with Gen Kagame.
Rwandan daily The New Times has reported that Muhoozi, who is also a presidential adviser, visited Kigali in February and agreed to a second visit to “sort out all outstanding issues between Uganda and Rwanda”.
Gen Muhoozi has since received heaps of praises from the public especially the business community that had been affected by the 3-year border closure.
