9 cases of new omicron variant of Coronavirus have been reported in Uganda.

The Ministry of Health confirmed this worrying news but had not disclosed more details on whether the infected people are from the local community or travellers.

The Spokesperson of the ministry Emmanuel Ainebyona couldn’t pick our repeated calls.

The deadly variant poses a threat and was first reported in South Africa and its neighbouring nations in Africa.

Over 40 countries across the world have reported the resurgence of this new form of the virus as scientists warned that it contains more dangerous strains.

This new variant threatens global recovery from the pandemic.
