Tomorrow Friday, May 5, 13 suspects charged with murder of AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi will reappear before Nakawa grade one magistrate Sulaiman Ssajjabi for mentioning of their case.
They were also charged with terrorism and aggravated robbery.
The investigations are still ongoing as real killers are yet to be apprehended.
Police which is the lead investigator has however been exposed for arresting wrong suspects who were tortured before ascertaining that they (suspects) have no clue on Kaweesi’s execution.
A case in point was when police investigators paraded a suspect who failed to identify the crime scene in Kulambiro.
It then sparked off a debate as to what was the motive of detaining ‘fake’ suspects.
This aroused anxiety among security chiefs heading other intelligence agencies which are conducting investigations alongside police.
In a security meeting that sat two weeks ago at the police head offices in Naguru attended by among others Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) boss Abel Kandiho, Internal Security Organisation (ISO) head Col Kaka, External Security Organisation (ESO) chief Joseph Ochwet, they unequivocally told IGP Gen Kale Kayihura that he had arrested wrong suspects.

Clash on 3 suspects
An official in the security circles, who preferred to remain anonymous so as to speak freely, said that among the 13 suspects charged there are 3 who are highly believed to have murdered the former police publicist on March 17 as he left his home alongside his driver Godfrey Mambewa and body guard Erau Kenneth.
The trio, according to this official were investigated and later arrested by CMI before handing them over to police.
“The evidence established before arresting these suspects places them on the scene of crime. When we checked their call data, it indicated that the three were communicating and had been nearby the crime scene,” an official said.
Adding that CMI also found out that still the call data from the three suspected linked them to the previous murders of top government officials and the muslim clerics.
However, it remains unconfirmed if the three suspects confessed as having killed Kaweesi and also responsible for the previous assassinations.
Another source told this website that upon handing them over to police and also revealing the intelligence gathered, authorities in Kayihura’s administration rejected information from CMI that the trio could be real killers of Kaweesi.
“Police insisted that the people behind Kaweesi shooting are the same who have previously murdered and other government officials. And the faces masterminding these killings are in Luzira and are highly believed to be having agents working for them,” a source said.
The observation came after the 3 suspects arrested by CMI reportedly denied collaborating with Sheik Yunus Kamoga and group that are incarcerated in Luzira accused of murdering fellow muslim clerics.
TrumpetNews couldn’t independently verify this information.

When we contacted UPDF spokesman Brig Richard Karemire who also speaks for CMI, he said that, “police is leading the investigations and therefore has the right to respond to our questions.”
When pressed on, Karemire insisted we get comment from police, “Please go and ask the police, thank you.”
CMI chief Abel Kandiho couldn’t be reached as his known mobile number didn’t go through.
Police spokesman Asan Kasigye and his boss Gen Kale Kayihura warned the media against reporting about Kaweesi murder probe saying the information published was detrimental to the investigations.
Through government, Kayihura sought a court order barring a section of online news sites from publishing any content related to Kaweesi murder investigations.
These websites and their editors have filed applications challenging the High Court injunction.
