Col Nakalema heads State House Anti- Corruption Unit.

Anti- corruption crusader Col. Edith Nakalema has promised to investigate hospital administrations taking advantage of the Covid-19 crisis to make obscene profits from treating patients.

Popular private hospitals and clinics in Kampala charge excessively patients in their ICU facilities.

For example, IHK and Case Clinic charge shs 3 million per day a patient in ICU, Medipal and Norvik charge 4 million, TMR and Victoria Hospital charge 5 million daily.

Victoria Hospital further requires advancement payment of shs 10 million from patients to secure ICU admission.

Failure to raise this amount, these hospitals deny patients admissions despite the health condition.

Against that background, Ugandans have appealed to authorities including President Yoweri Museveni, Ministry of Health, Speaker of Parliament, Col Nakalema to intervene and save the situation as Uganda continues to register more Covid-19 deaths.

In her tweet, Nakalema conveyed message of hope saying she has started coordinating with police and Ministry of Health to manage the crisis.

“Indeed alarming! We shall coordinate with police and MoH to question these exorbitant prices. Fighting corruption requires collective efforts and together we can make a difference,” she said.

Ugandans wondered why heatless hospital administrators would use these dark days to make a kill from Covid victims.
