NAMES: URA fires 9 top Officials over Theft and Fraud

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Management Disciplinary Committee (MDC) has dismissed 2 officials and also terminated contracts of other 7 officers involved in theft and fraudulent dealings.

According to a memo dated June 11, issued by Richard Kariisa, the Commissioner Corporate Services, a series of meeting sitting between April and May heard submissions of staff with different offences and accordingly made the following decisions in accordance with the Human Resource Management Manual (HRMM).

Additionally, Staff Appeals Committee (SAC)meeting held on 4th June 2021 heard submission of one staff and considered appeals of two staff and accordingly made the following decisions in accordance with the Human Resource Management Manual (HRMM).

gross negligence, abetting of offences and flouting of processes & procedures.

Note:

SAC also deliberated on the appeals by Andrew Wampande and Frank Ddumba against their dismissal from URA but did not find any merit in the grounds of appeal and accordingly decided to uphold the MDC’s decision to dismiss them.

Management implores every staff to take extra personal and collective care whenever they are doing their work and to ensure adherence to all provisions of the Human Resource Management Manual and the respective departmental guidelines in place.
