Police has arrested 10 suspects from two private clinics for being found in possession of the Covid 19 vaccines belonging to government.
The five suspects were arrested at First Pharmacy located in Mulago Wandegeya and another five were also picked from Victoria hospital in Ntinda a Kampala suburb.
According to police, over 600 doses of AstraZeneca covid vaccines have been recovered from the two pharmacies.
A number of test tubes, Ministry of Health vaccination cards and consent forms have also were recovered during the sting operation over the weekend.
The suspects are being detained at the Crime Intelligence Headquarters for statement recording and further processing to be arraigned before the courts of law as security continues with the operation.
Following a tip off from a concerned citizen, Police first sent operatives to both facilities under the disguise that they were travellers looking for Covid-19 vaccination and certificates and got assurance that the service was available.
Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the arrests but declined to reveal the identities of the suspects.
