Ykee Benda responds to Rape allegations

Ykee Benda

Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) president and singer, Wycliffe Tugume aka Ykee Benda two weeks ago went bare knuckles with Tweeps after being accused of going silent over Nubian Li’s arrest.

On Tuesday the singer took it to social media to defend himself against allegations of rape that the accuser claimed happened in his days of high school.

This follows after he refused to help fellow singer Nubian Li’s arrest. The fans argued that being the president of the Uganda Musicians Association, Ykee would only use the courtesy to defend the people he leads.

Ykee Benda instead came out and noted how Nubian Li was arrested on political grounds and rather not for the entertainment reasons.

Now the singer says that one of his followers had on January 9, 2021 accused him of rape that dated back to his high school days.

“As has become the habit a lot of wild things were posted some of which included an allegation of rape one twitter user claimed dated back in my high school days. I would like to categorically state that this allegation is baseless and should be treated with the contempt it deserve,” Benda said Tuesday in a series of tweets he made to clarify that his handler had mismanaged his account in an exchange with his Twitter followers.

The singer explained to his followers how his account had been mismanaged by his social media handler. Reference is made to tweets that appeared on my twitter account on the evening of 9th January 2021.

“The tweets that were shared on my account do not represent my persona. I regret the damage this has created for my brand as a musician. I have taken the necessary steps to ensure that the unfortunate events that happened on twitter do not happen again. I’m still scratching my head,” he added.
