Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, with the assistance of his foreign backers has instituted four parallel tally centers from which he will monitor his votes, this website has reliably learnt.
A top American firm GQR whose services Bobi Wine acquired last year proposed to set up these four tally centers abroad to avoid being cracked by the regime.
GQR is a Washington based international data-driven campaign and strategy company.
The officials of this firm advised Bobi Wine, that the establishment of these four tally centers is aimed at enabling “a free and fair election.”
Ugandans will January 14 vote for President, Members of Parliament, LC5 chairpersons, mayors and other local council leaders.
A source inside National Unity Platform (NUP) revealed to this website that the foreign strategists have considered Ghana, Kenya, Netherlands and U.S as countries which will host Bobi Wine’s tally centers.
“Those manning these centers will get data directly from our agents on polling stations in Uganda. Our office will also share results,” said a source.
“This is the only way we shall curb rigging,” he added.
Asked why the centers couldn’t be set up in Uganda, this source said “it is very risky to have our facilities here.”
This source added that, some of the data will be picked from their supporters and on social media.
Previously NUP announced it would step up a parallel facility as tally center but declined to divulge details.
The Electoral Commission (EC), Uganda’s election regulator will have its official tally center at Kyambogo grounds in Kampala.
The EC chairman Justice Simon Byabakama earlier warned opposition parties against running a parallel vote counting entity.
The Electoral Commission chairman said that under the law, there is only one recognized tally center, that is the national tally center for the presidential elections and the district tally centers for the parliamentary and other categories of elections.
Efforts to get a comment from Bobi Wine about this new development remained futile by press time. His spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi was equally not available for a comment.
In his recent interview, President Museveni maintained that his opponent Bobi Wine is a fronted by foreigners who seek to destabilize Uganda.
Museveni said Bobi Wine despiste his foreign support remains ideologically bankrupt.
However, Bobi Wine says he is determined to end Museveni’s 34 military rule.
