Unidentified woman narrowly kissed death on Tuesday morning after an electric transformer smashed her car on Dewinton road near Wavaha House.
The car was in motion when the transformer fell on it damaging the Toyota Noah beyond repair.
The transformer fell after the pole on which its supported broke down, hitting the car although the occupant survived.
“I heard a loud noise; I thought some kind of a bomb had exploded only to realise the transformer had hit the car,” said an eye witness who was at the scene.
“The driver was injured on the shoulder and taken to the hospital. Had there been any person in the co-driver’s seat, they wouldn’t have survived,” she added.
According to the eye witness, the electric pole was rotten and unable to support the weight of the transformer.
