Equal Opportunities boss Ntambi granted shs3.5M cash Bail

The Anti-Corruption Magistrate has committed Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) Chairperson Sylvia Ntambi to High court for trial over corruption related charges.

Ntambi appeared at Anti-Corruption Court on Tuesday morning and prosecution said that investigation into the matter is complete and now ready to present evidence against her and nine other former workers of the commission.

The Anti- Corruption Court on November 4, released on bail Ms Ntambi after she was remanded to Kigo Prison for a week.

She is battling 25 charges of corruption, abuse of office, causing financial loss, embezzlement and conspiracy to defraud government.

Ntambi was released on a cash bail of 3.5 million shillings, and each of her three sureties bonded at a non cash of 40 million shillings.

Ntambi was ordered to deposit her passport and land title with court.

On releasing her, the magistrate observed that the state did not indicate fear that the accused will interfere with inquiries into the case once released.

Ntambi was asked to report back to Court on 24th November for mention of her case.
