Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) has responded to FDC flagbearer Patrick Oboi Amuriat alias POA saying, it has fully prepared for him should he dare defy the Electoral Commission guidelines on nomination slated for November 3, at midday.
The Presidential Nomination will be conducted at Kyambogo sports grounds for two days.
While issuing the nomination program, EC chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama told all aspirants to adhere to guidelines as the country grapples with COVID-19.
Byabakama said all aspirants apart from President Museveni will use three vehicles and must be escorted by not more than 9 supporters to the venue.
However, the FDC heavyweight unequivocally said he will defy the rules and will hold a procession from the party headquarters to nomination venue.
“We must paint Kampala blue. We will move with our supporters because it is our constitutional right,” he told NBSTV on Wednesday evening.
But the deputy KMP spokesperson Patrick Onyango said police has fully planned for defiant Amuriat daring him to try.
“Let him try. We have planned for him very well, we are just waiting for that day,” Onyango said.
The EC boss Byabakama weighed in on police adding that it is unfortunate that a leader who is seeking to lead a country of 40 million people would want risk lives of citizens in a procession.
He said the law will take its full course should Amuriat flout the regulations.
