Presidential adviser on media affairs Tamale Mirundi has in his trade mark no holds barred style blasted the IGP Kale Kayihura for wrongly placing the new spokesman Asan Kasingye in a post lower than his stature.

Kasingye succeed AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi who was shot dead three weeks ago in broad light sending shivers down the security spine.

Until today police is grappling to establish the identities of the killers and the motive.

A security expert who recently spoke to TrumpetNews described the manner in which Kaweesi was assassinated as “intent to send a message” to his superiors.

Police remains under immense criticism for being subdued on the progress of investigations.

What is however shocking is the rate at which police boss is effecting changes in which some senior officers have been transferred, fired and others dumped.

Kayihura last Thursday took the nation by surprise when he sacked 6 of his close aides.

Mirundi has described these sporadic reshuffles as unnecessary and exposing police’s inner weakness.

He wondered whether Gen Kayihura will keep reshuffling commanders in case another top officer is killed.

He upped his ante while appearing on his weekly TV talk show on NBS.

Mirundi discredited police authorities for redeploying former director Interpol as Kaweesi’s successor saying Kasingye had made a name and is highly respected in East Africa.

“That is how Uganda loses cream. A man who has been at the top of intelligence and highly respected now speaks for police?” wondered Mirundi.

He added that any junior officer could suitably execute the assignment.

He scoffed at Kasingye’s recent claims that some unknown individuals are threatening his life.

“Receiving death threats means that police has not arrested Kaweesi’s killers. So they still exist,” he analysed.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni while eulogizing the fallen officer cautioned Kayihura to clean up the force which has been infiltrated by criminals.

When contacted for whether he regrets being “reduced’ to spokesman, Kasingye elaborated that, “I am the chief political commissar so I am a director. I don’t know why people refer to me as police spokesman and forgot the other assignment.”

He concluded that in police there tour of duty where an officer can serve in different capacities.
