Makerere University researcher Dr. Stella Nyanzi has reportedly been put under house arrest together with her family.
Nyanzi posted on her facebook page a while ago saying gun wielding men in military uniform have besieged her house in Kyanja, a Kampala suburb.
But Police publicist AIGP Asan Kasingye said he wasn’t aware when contacted about the matter.
“I have to consult but I am not aware,” he said phone.
Nyanzi, who was last last week fired from Makerere University over her inflammatory remarks on the First Lady and Education Minister Janet Kataaha Museveni, said in the post that she was driven CID headquarters for interrogation.
“My three pre-teen children returned home from school this evening to find armed uniformed military policemen in our three-bedroomed flat in Kyanja. Rhoda, the house-help was kneeling on the floor of the sitting room and sniffing” she posted.
“Meanwhile, another group of un-uniformed hitmen driving a white salon car of number plate UAW 103R are seriously training one of our family cars in which I was transported to CID headquarters for interrogation. One of my interrogators called D/ASP Bill Ndyamuhaki has been identified among them.”
Dr Nyanzi is under investigation following a series of attacks laced with obscenities that she put out on her widely followed social media page, against the First Family and government’s failure to provide sanitary pads to school going girls.
Last month, she was blocked at Entebbe Airport from leaving the country to attend a conference at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
