TrumpetNews on Sunday July 12 published an article titled “SCANDAL: Expired Lato Milk Repackaged and Sent to the Market” which suggested that Pearl Dairy Farms Limited is caught up in a scandal for selling expired Lato Milk.
The story alleged that the management was repackaging the expired milk from the WareHouse in Banda, Kampala and redistributes it to the market across the country with extended expiry dates.
Our story further claimed that the decision to repackage this milk was ordered by Lato Milk head of sales Mr Nirav Patel.
But after conducting deep investigation, we have since established that the facts reported in the story couldn’t amount to the conclusion that management of Lato Milk was repackaging and redistributing these products.
We have also interviewed the top managers of Lato Milk who made it clear that such acts of selling expired milk are illegal and affects the health of Ugandans.
Therefore, it can’t be true that such milk is on the market.
TrumpetNews regrets the damage this story has caused both to the manufacturer and the consumer.
We reassure our readers that TrumpetNews is professional and exercises the tenets of journalism.
