Breaking: Soldier Kills Kasese Reverend for carrying Wife on Motorcycle

RIP: Musimenta

The UPDF has commenced investigation into the death of Kogere Church of Uganda Layreader Benon Nsimenta who was shot on Wednesday morning in Kasese District.

Nsimenta would be ordained a Reverend Deacon in December.

According to reports from Church of Uganda, the deceased was riding a motorcycle together with his wife while going to the garden in Karusandara.

According to high-ranking church official in Kasese, a UPDF soldier tried to stop the Layreader for flouting COVID-19 guidelines since the President disallowed two people on a motorcycle.

The soldier also accused him of not wearing the mask.

The Layreader however, didn’t stop. This prompted the gunman to fire bullets killing him instantly.

UPDF spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire when contacted confirmed the incident saying the army has started investigation.

“We convey our deepest sympathy to the family of the lay leader. Investigations have commenced to establish the cause of that very early 6.00 am movement during curfew time,” said Karemire.

Karemire added that, “information we have is that he died from a stray bullet as soldiers were chasing thieves.”
