Until now the nation is grappling with Friday events that happened in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb where a high ranking police officer Andrew Felix Kaweesi was gunned down along with his driver Mambewa Godfrey and body guard Kenneth Erau.
The shooting was a surprise attack when gunmen on motor bikes carrying powerful weapons hailed bullets on Kaweesi’s car, thus overpowering the occupants who had only pistols in their possession.
Much as the assailants vanished after the grisly incident leaving no traces, Police and other security agencies have since launched investigations to ascertain the motive and those behind it.
A senior officer on Monday morning revealed to TrumpetNews on condition of anonymity that two suspects have been detained and are being interrogated in connection to Kaweesi’s murder.
“Yes we have them and I can assure you we will get all of them,” said the officer.
Asked which facility they are being held, he declined saying, “You man I have assured you we have already arrested two. And we have them. Know that.”
TrumpetNews further understands that shortly after the murder, a couple of security officials have been receiving phone calls from the public revealing information about suspects.
“Even yesterday and today, I received a call that some of these killers were spotted somewhere in Kampala. And we are investigating the matter,” an officer added.
However, we couldn’t independently verify this information.
Asked about the development, Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokeman Paul Kangave said, “I don’t have that information now. But let me ask around.”
It must be noted, that the killers were bold enough show their faces while executing their mission.
That is why police head Lt Gen Kale Kayihura insists on installation on cctv cameras which would be easy to track them (killers).
Shooter ‘scar face’
Another source in who requested to be unnamed told TrumpetNews that police received numerous phone calls from unknown people who were describing a killer code named scar face. “Yes we got a call that that person had been cited in neighbouring suburb in Kampala,” a source said.
On that fateful day, a source said scar face was seen in Kisasi, a phone call says.
A composite image of scar face is currently circulating on social media platforms.
He is believed to be a trained assassin who has executed most of the murders of prominent government officials.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday while eulogizing the fallen officer at his home in Kulambiro assured the mourners that the killers will be dealt with, “we shall find them and kill them.”
Kaweesi will be laid to rest tomorrow at his ancestral home in Lwengo district.
