Uganda Police has issued tough guidelines to all private car drivers who will not observer the 7pm-6:30am curfew, a directive instituted by the President.
Police spokesperson Fred Enanga speaking to journalists on Monday said, as drivers prepare to hit the road tomorrow (Tuesday), they shouldn’t forget that other Presidential guidelines are still valid like the 7pm-630am curfew and wearing of face masks.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni last week announced that private cars will be allowed to move beginning may 26 as government starts to ease on the lockdown, a measure implemented to curtail spread of COVID-19.
Mr Enanga said all drivers in private cars must wear masks along with other two occupants.
Museveni advised that a car should carry only 3 people.
Enanga added that all the vehicles must observe curfew time and that whoever will be got past 7pm, the vehicle will be impounded and occupants arrested, taken to court and charged with disobeying the Presidential directive.
“Every private vehicle got on the road beyond curfew hours will be impounded, occupants arrested,” said Enanga.
Today marks the 55th day as Uganda observe the “stay home” presidential directive.
