The residents of Mutanoga village in Buhunga Sub County in Rukungiri District are celebrating after receiving relief items from a well wisher, born and raised from their village .
Winnie Kamusiime who currently lives in London extended the assistance through her Charity Organisation ‘Kamusiime Foundation.’
The 1.5 tonnes of maize flour was delivered May 19.
Ms Kamusiime is the daughter of Joshua Kazooba who hails from the area
While delivering the food relief items, Hebert Twinomujuni, the Project Coordinator of Kamusiime Foundation in Uganda said that the donation of the food relief was purely a corporate social responsibility aimed at supporting the community which has been affected by the lockdown implemented as a measure to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.
Twinomujuni said that after getting an appeal from Muzei Joshua Kazooba, the father of Kamusiime, he reached out to the residents by donating the food relief.
“The food relief has no conditions attached but it’s purely supposed to benefit the residents of Mutanoga village where the Founder of Kamusiime Foundation, Ms Winnie Kamusiime hails from” Twinomujuni said.
Speaking at the same Muzei Joshua Kazooba, thanked Rukungiri District Coronavirus TaskForce headed by the Resident District Commissioner Dan Ayebazibwe Kaguta for allowing the Kamusiime Charity Organisation to donate to the community of Mutanoga village in Buhunga Sub County.
Muzei Kazooba however appealed to the residents to receive the food relief as a sign of love and unity and therefore it should not be a source of disunity in their families.
“Men should desist from selling off the food relief because it’s clearly marked not for sale” Muzei Joshua Kazooba said.
While receiving the donation, Mutanoga village LC 1 Chairman Kenneth Mugabe who received the donation on behalf of the residents said that the residents were relieved on hearing that each household would benefit from the donation.
“We as residents are very grateful to Ms Kamusiime whom we grew up to with to remember the residents at this time of need” Mugabe said.
Chairman Mugabe said that there are 70 households in Mutanoga village and an estimated population of 270 people who will benefit from the donation.
