Uganda Police Force (UPF) has Friday been struck with sad news of the untimely death of its senior officer AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
He was gunned down at 9:30am by unknown assailants who were riding a motor cycle just a few metres from his residence in Kulambiro, a Kampala suburb.
Kaweesi was shot dead along with his driver identified as Kenneth Elawu and body guard Godfrey Wambewo.
Being the Force’s publicist, Kaweesi was rushing to Uganda Christian University (UCU), Mukono to attend a seminar- Finalist Career with a theme Beyond The Transcript to give a key note address on successful career development.
Others speakers include Uganda Prisons mouthpiece Frank Baine , Paul Kireta, Hotel Sheraton’s human resource trainer.
Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Emilian Kayima told TrumpetNews that police in conjunction with other security agencies are trying to ascertain the motive behind Kaweesi’s murder.
He urged Ugandans to keep calm as investigations are ongoing.
Kaweesi’s body is now at Mulago hospital as doctors conduct post-mortem.
A number of high ranking government officials, military officers, clerics and prominent businessmen have been taken down by assailants using boda bodas.
The shooters are bold enough to kill in broad day light leaving no traces which could lead to their arrest.

Who is Kaweesi?
Kaweesi began his police career in 2001. After graduating at the police training school, Kibuli and serving in the force for about three years, he was appointed a personal assistant to Police Chief Gen. Kale Kayihura. He was promoted after about two years and deployed as the head of Kabalye Police Training School.
From Kabalye, Kaweesi became the Commandant of Kampala Metropolitan Police and was promoted to the rank of AIGP. Kaweesi also served as the Director of Operations before being appointed Director of Human Resource Development in the Uganda Police Force.
At the time of his deployment in Kampala in 2011, the city was battling the Walk to Work protests, initiated by former presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye after the 2011 elections.
