The top management of NBS Television has reached a decision to terminate Edwin Katamba’s services.
Katamba alias MC Kats has been hosting a popular showbiz program “After 5” along with Douglas Lwanga, until late last year when he took a holiday in London and would later be hospitalized over depression.
He returned to Uganda and since then things have never been the same again.
Kats was last month dragged into a rehabilitation center but escaped days later.
He accused his co- host Douglas Lwanga of initiating the move to have him incarcerated in a rehab so as to ‘steal’ his job.
TrumpetNews, has reliably learnt that after escaping from rehab, Kats stormed Kamwokya based station abusing whoever his eyes chanced on for “kidnapping and abandoning him in a rehab on grounds that he is mad,” said a source.
Kats also accused NBS officials of failing to clear his salary.
“He embarrassed us and caused a scene before he was roughed up despite his deteriorating health and dragged out,” a source adds.
Trembling, with red eyes and lost voice, Kats shed tears in disbelief that a station he had given all his efforts to promote the show which attracted massive advertorial deals, had abandoned him and left him for the dead, instead of standing with him in such terrible times.
It should be noted in 2010 when Kats first fell sick while working for Club Sway which was owned by Rajiv Ruparelia, tycoon Sudhir took care of Kats as his own son. He footed medical bill and subjected him to a special diet to boost his immunity.
Had it not been Sudhir may be Kats would be history now.
So this is exactly what Kin Karisa and his administration were expected to do as far Kat’s health is concerned. However, they chose to show him exit.
Mr Katamba, a self proclaimed King of the Mic has been replaced with a rookie who Thursday was seen interviewing a group of DJs outside the studios.
Shockingly this boy wants to imitate Kats.
Kat’s unceremonious sacking comes high on heels of looming exodus of workers at the station who feel exploited and are paid peanuts.
The crop of NBS workers planning to massively quit are those who were mainly snatched from NTV a rival television, including Kats who presented The Beat.
Raymond Mujuni, an investigative reporter who left NTV for NBS last year has since left the station decrying intrigue, malice and frustration.
Tomorrow this website will publish a list of workers who are quitting NBS soon.
No NBS top official was willing to comment on this matter when reached.
